Google phone to contract T Mobile USA by Jan next year

Google will enter into a contract with T Mobile USA to sell one of the versions of its own-branded cell phone, while the other will be unlocked version of the touch screen phone, allowing consumers to pick a carrier of their choice to provide wireless service.

Telefonica fined by Spanish regulator of EUR 11 million

Telefonica has been fined of EUR 11 million by Spanish telecommunications regulator CMT for delaying the provision of naked ADSL wholesale services. The regulations for naked DSL wholesale access were set by the regulator in March 2008. The decision has come after a series of complaints from Vodafone.

Nokia, Samsung invest in touchscreen technology firm

Nokia and Samsung have both invested in Swype, a touchscreen user interface startup that has large ambitions for the touchscreen market. The two handset makers’ investment arms, Nokia Growth Partners and Samsung Ventures, along with returning investor Benaroya Capital, pumped $5.6 million of Series B financing into the Seattle-based company.
