AT&T used the prelude to CTIA to reveal three of its promised smartphones, including crucial news for Palm. Both the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are the first GSM webOS phones in the US and the only ones that can handle simultaneous voice and data. IE loses share to Firefox, Opera after browser ballot
Microsoft has lost share in web browsers since Europe’s browser ballot was rolled out, new data confirmed today. While Internet Explorer’s worldwide share has been largely stable, European data from Statcounter shows that the browser has lost almost 1 percent in the UK, 1.3 percent in Italy and 2.5 percent in France with about a month of the ballot being active in trial form. Sony started off the week with the rare launch of two different sizes for the VAIO E in Europe. Alongside the regular 15.5-inch model, the company now has 14- and 17-inch models that are both performance upgrades in addition to catering to different users. The 14-inch model is the most unique and has a much sharper 1600×900 display along with an upgrade to dedicated Mobility Radeon HD 5145 video. It still runs on a 2.13GHz Core i3 and comes outfitted with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive….

Amazon today gave an early look at its Kindle App for Tablet Computers as an indicator of what to expect on the iPad. The new version is optimized for the larger screens and includes a more visual book browser as well as a more natural page view that, like on the iPad, curls the page in reaction to a reader’s finger. Gigabyte leaks AMD’s six-core Phenom II speeds
The first indication of the clock speeds of AMD’s Thuban six-core chips for consumer PCs has been leaked on Friday. According to BIOS updates and CPU support lists released by Gigabyte, the six-core X6 1035T will be rated at 2.6GHz, while the X6 1055T will run at 2.8GHz and the top-rung, six-core AMD chip will be the Phenom II X6 1075T, with a 3GHz clock speed. This is significantly below the 3.33GHz frequency of Intel’s fastest chip, the Core i7-980X, but doesn’t necessarily reflect the actual performance gap….
